In Bourbon County, Superintendent Lana Fryman said the district is very strict about showing videos in classrooms. They must be presented to a principal for approval before viewing and teachers are discouraged from showing any films simply for entertainment, she said. "It's a waste of their academic time," Fryman said. If a movie could enhance a class, teachers are allowed to show clips of a film, Fryman said. "And then have other strategies for teaching it as well." Madison County's policy dictates that teachers view video materials beforehand and that the material relate to what is being taught in class.
